The BMW iX is a fully electric luxury SUV, blending cutting-edge EV technology, sustainability, and premium comfort. Introduced in 2021, the iX serves as BMW’s flagship electric SUV, competing with models like the Tesla Model X, Audi e-tron, and Mercedes EQS SUV.

The iX is available in several variants, including:

  • iX xDrive40 – A dual-motor AWD model with 326 hp and a range of up to 425 km (WLTP).
  • iX xDrive50 – A more powerful AWD version with 523 hp and a range of up to 630 km.
  • iX M60 – A high-performance M variant with 619 hp, launching from 0–100 km/h in 3.8 seconds, but with a lower range of around 566 km.

Built on a lightweight aluminum and carbon fiber structure, the iX offers exceptional rigidity while maintaining efficiency. It features DC fast charging up to 200 kW, allowing a 10%-80% charge in about 35 minutes, and comes with BMW’s latest iDrive 8 infotainment system, which integrates AI-driven navigation, over-the-air updates, and a high-resolution curved display.

Common BMW BMW iX problems

The BMW iX’s high-voltage battery offers long-range capabilities, but some owners have noted unexpected range fluctuations, especially in cold weather. Extreme temperatures can reduce range significantly, and heavy use of climate control, heated seats, and high-speed driving can further impact efficiency. Preconditioning the battery before driving can help mitigate these losses.
